Kennel District is a digital adaptation of Shakespeare's epic play King Henry IV, Part 1, adapting several scenes within a fictional continuity in the context of Web 1.0 Internet culture. The setting of Elizabethan England and the cathartic power struggle experienced by those attempting to control it is transposed onto a fictional forum called 'Kennel District' in an alternate 2025. The despotic royalty (King Henry, Prince Hal and others) is translated into a moderating team composed of a set of male siblings, and the tavern peasantry and the rebellious opposition to the royalty are translated into the rest of the forum users who all have differing opinions of the team and how the forum should be run.
The adaptation is viewed through browser as static pages that can be clicked through that tell the story, and the act and scene being adapted (as well as your progress through the story) can be seen at the top of the respective page at all times.
This was made for the Adaptations elective for UTS in 2025.
